REIGNING Northern Conference champions Poro received K1,000 from a local business house for their Women’s National Soccer League campaign.
Menos JV Limited representative Joshua Menos made the presentation to the team at the Papua New Guinea Football Association Education Centre at 11-Mile outside Lae.
He said Poro were one of the oldest clubs in Lae, so he was happy to back the side.
Menos said women were not supported by business houses as much as men, so any help was crucial.
“On behalf of the company’s executives, I am proud to be here to support Poro with K1,000 for the team’s basic needs,” he said.
Poro coach Troy Gunemba said the support would help the side in their upcoming clashes.
“It’s a two-way thing, so we must also support them,” he said.
Gunemba appealed to the soccer fraternity to support locally-owned businesses houses.
“A big thanks to the company on behalf of Poro, your support means a lot to the team,” he told Menos.
