PORT MORESBY is ready to host the 2015 Pacific Games.
This was the message by National Capital District (NCD) Governor Powes Parkop while welcoming the delegates from the various Pacific Games Associations countries last night.
The delegates are in the country to see for themselves what Port Moresby can offer in the bid to host the 2015 Pacific Games.

He said he was convinced Port Moresby would be the host city for the Pacific Games.
Parkop joined the president of PNG Sports Federation and National Olympic Committee Sir Henry ToRobert in thanking all the visitors for accepting the invitation to come and visit PNG.
“I can assure you all the members of PGA that we (Port Moresby) have the support from the municipal government, board and the resident of the city to host the successful 2015 Pacific Games,” he said.
Minister for Sports Dame Carol Kidu have supported the bid stating that PNG had the bi-partisan support from both sides of the Parliament which put PNG the outright favourite to win the bid.
Parkop said since he became governor, he wanted to transform the city in all ways physically, socially and economically.
Sir Henry urged the PGA members that their acceptance to the PNG’s invitation was very important to the country.
“Your vote is very important for us on Sept 27 in Cook Islands, which will decide who host the Games in 2015,” he said.
PNG is bidding against Solomon Islands and Tonga for the Games.
Later in the night, the PGA was treated with the fireworks.
Today, the PGA members will attend the PNG 2015 Bid Committee presentation at Crowne Plaza and then will visit UPNG for the tour of the 2015 Games Village and then have lunch.
On Saturday, they will have another Bid Team presentation at Crowne Plaza before visiting the sports venues before some members of the PGA will depart in the afternoon.
