THE Port Moresby Women’s Softball Association will reveal its 2022 calendar after its general meeting on Saturday, according to an official
The proposed season will kick off after the general election in August.
A corporate slow-pitch competition was held over the weekend at the Bisini Diamonds to begin a softball fundraiser.
Association president Ian Soweni said a good number of teams were taking part in the competition.
The teams are Water PNG, Nasfund, Swire Shipping, Trukai Industries, PNG Power, FX Business Centre (Remington), Cardno Emerging Markets, Moni Plus, National Broadcasting Corporation, Casa PNG, Santos, Bank South Pacific Limited Financial Group, Express Freight Management and Brian Bell.
There are two pools of eight teams each.
The new teams are Brian Bell and Moni Plus while the rest have been participating annually.
Moni Plus is also the major sponsor of Gazelle softball club.
Meanwhile, Soweni said there were no plans yet for the association moving forward.
“With our national federation not in order due to the passing of the president, the late Ralph Tarasomo, we have no national events planned for 2022 that we know off,” he said.
“But we’re happy to have matches after laying off for two years.
“We will make announcements after our general meeting.”
Soweni said the slow-pitch competition would end on June 11.
“We’d like to finish by June, so we don’t get disrupted by the polling,” he said.
