Post PNG enhanced
The National, Friday July 25th, 2014
POST PNG Ltd recently announced that it is well poised to lead the freight forwarding and logistics business in the country.
The state-owned entity said this was possible with the re-positioning of its express mail services to a fully pledged logistics company now called Post Logistics Ltd.
It said these changes were part of the reform the company was undertaking.
Others included modernising its fleet and enhancing its capacity in meeting the market’s growing needs.
Post Logistics has its presence spread in almost all districts and little centres across the country with 120 retail outlets making it the largest domestic logistic network.
The company is a member of the Universal Postal Union which essentially gives access to the global network in logistics movement.
It operates daily air charters to and from major centres in the country and operates custom clearance services complemented with dedicated and well trained staff who handle customs clearance to dangerous goods.
Post PNG now boasts a wide range of products and services to meet customer needs.
Its nationwide network consisting of 45 official post offices, 47 agency post offices, eight courier and freight centres, 12 agency banking service, two mail exchange and distribution centres, 6 post shops and one philatelic bureau provides convenient and accessible outlets for postal products and services.
Recently, Post Logistics replaced all its operations vehicle fleet at its headquarters in Port Moresby.
The same was done in its Lae operations a few weeks ago.
This will extend to the other major centres hosting the company’s logistics and postal hubs in Mt Hagen, Kokopo, Goroka, Alotau and other centres.
