Potape has acted, dare Pundari do the same?

The National – Monday, August 1st 2011

Petroleum and Energy Minister Francis Potape did the right thing to prevent InterOil from trialing a floating LNG platform in PNG.

As a engineer, he knows what he is talking about and I commend him for advising InterOil directors in Singapore against the idea.

When will Mining Minister John Pundari review and say that deep sea mining in Bismarck Sea is not safe for our undersea environment and people of Papua New Guinea?

We are being used as a guinea pig in deep sea mining project.

Numerous experts have spoken against it but the directors of Petromin and Pundari continue to promote it.

It is high time Pundari put a stop to the project before it gets off ground.

If hazardous chemicals used in deep sea mining were to spill into the sea, what is Petromin going to do?

We may see another Fukushima disaster in PNG if Pundari does not act.
