Potential seen in PNG fisheries

A recent World Bank report says PNG’s fisheries industry has the potential to realise expanded public revenue and job creation. The World Bank PNG Economic Update 2019 said this would require efforts aimed at better regional cooperation around fisheries, improvements in sustainable management of fish stocks, enhancements in flexibility and value of fishery access rights, upskilling of fishery managers, better branding and marketing of local tuna, and support for regional processing clusters.
