Power disruptions for Moresby

National, Normal

PNG Power is carrying out load shedding in the National Capital District and surrounding areas due to a short fall of 12MW.
The short fall was caused by failure of two generators at the Moitaka thermal power station.
Demand for electricity in NCD and surrounding areas is 89MW, but available capacity is only 82.7MW.
It has been reported that PNG Power engineers are working on the generators and should have them restored by Friday.
PNG Power advised customers with standby generators to use them and all electricity consumers to refer to the two feeders per hour load shedding schedule if they have one.
Otherwise, call the 24 hours service on 324 3299 / 325 6988 or 323 4774 for further information.
PNG Power sincerely apologises for any inconvenience caused.
