Power workers petition bosses

 PNG Power Limited staff will present a petition to the management, a PNG Energy Workers Association official says.
One of the issues in the petition is the staff deductions for a medical insurance cover provided by Pacific Assurance Group.
Association president Edward Gisa said it was the entire workforce and not just the union members who were affected.
Gisa said the workers were demanding an explanation from the board and management on the need for the medical cover.
He said the workers were contributing to other insurance companies and the new medical cover was an additional financial burden on them.
“I have been receiving phone calls from the workers throughout the country expressing their concerns about this additional deduction and they are not just the union members but the entire workforce,” he said.
