THE Papua New Guinea Powerlifting Federation in conjunction with KK Kingston will stage the third PNG Powerlifting competition this weekend.
Organisers hope the two-day competition attracts fans and casual observers to Lae’s Sir Ignatius Kilage Stadium.
A K10 registration fee applies for competitors.
Sponsor and PNG Powerlifting Federation president Michael Kingston called for greater support from business houses and the wider community for the sport as powerlifting had potential to produce champions.
Interest is slowly growing with each competition and organisers and sponsors were pleased about the opportunity to develop the sport.
International Powerlifting Federation (IPF) competition rules will apply and will cover the three lifts: squat, bench and deadlift.
Performance is vital as results from the competition would go towards selection for the 2019 Pacific Games in Samoa.
KK Kingston through its flagship brands, Tuffa, Dazzle, and Gold N Sun with PNG Powerlifting Federation was committed to making the competition a success.
The partnership has so far overseen three competitions this year.
The meet starts at 8am and is open to the public.
Lifters must arrive on time to avoid missing registering as competition will start on schedule.
