Powi asked not to run district admin
The National, Monday July 6th, 2015
A TRIBAL leader in the Kagua Erave district has called on Southern Highlands Governor William Powi to stay out of the running of the district administration.
Paul Poto, the paramount chief of the Mirupa tribe in Kagua, urged Powi to concentrate on providing leadership.
“I am very disappointed over the manner and approach taken by the governor and provincial administrator to take the recent appointment of the new chief executive officer process to court.”
“It was a relief for many when former district administrator Paul Pawawas appointed a chief executive officer for Kagua Erave by the board of the District Development Authority.
It is the legitimate authority of the district under the chairmanship of MP James Lagea,” he said.
He said the leaders of the district including the council presidents had endorsed Pawa to be the CEO in the interest of the 95,000 people of Kagua Erave.
Powi could not be reached for comment.
Poto said Powi must allow the DDA to appoint its chief executive officer.
