SOUTHERN Highlands Governor William Powi is appealing to his supporters and the people of the province not to bother him too much because he is preparing to deliver services to them.
Powi said too often people repeatedly followed parliamentarians for free handouts, allowing no time for them to think and plan for development in their electorates.
He said this when announcing several major impact projects in the province at Nipa, the district headquarters of the Nipa-Kutubu district over the weekend.
He said he was prepared to develop Southern Highlands with help from the respective members of parliament from the province.
Powi, a former provincial administrator, said planning and service delivery was nothing new to him and that he had already undertaken several major projects in the province.
He said among some of the projects were the rural electrification programme from Mendi to Nipa, provincial cooperative society programmes, district market programmes, road works, school and health improvement programmes, youth empowerment and many others.
He said he would fund several projects in the province like the Fuguma-Kutubu road, connecting the remote Mount Bosave, light up several parts of the province with electricity from Mendi to Nipa, the Nipa township and building churches.
He said this government was prepared to serve the province by implementing many of his plans that had been idle over the years because of the lack of political support.
He said since he had received overwhelming support from all corners of the province, he would not let them down and would deliver services that were already outlined in the master development plan.
