Powi praised for funding road

A COMMUNITY leader from Erave has thanked Southern Highlands Governor William Powi for allocating funds to upgrade roads in the electorate.
Anderson Awaisa thanked Powi for allocating K1.5 million for the upgrading in Erave last Saturday which would benefit the 20,000 people living there.
Awaisa said roads in Erave had been neglected for years and badly needed upgrading.
He said a lot of funds had been misused in engineering and consultation work.
He urged the contractors to use the K1.5 million on the road project alone.
“In the past, funds for the road were exhausted on consultation and many contractors left without completing the work,” he said.
Awaisa urged Powi to engage local contractors because they had local knowledge and should complete the project within the deadline.
