PPC: Reported incidents not election related

EAST Sepik Police commander Supt Albert Beli says he has not received any-election related reports but a few reports of drunkards in certain areas are not election related.
Beli said polling for the local level government election in the province had been going smoothly for the last few days and would end today.
Beli said police officers were doing normal motorist patrols along the highway and also the town to make sure that there was no trouble.
“The police station commanders (PSCs) and rural police station commanders (RPSC) know their duties to keep their man-power intact and when the polling officials need police assistance they will send them to the respective areas upon the request” he said.
Beli used the opportunity to call on the newly elected councillors to take responsibility and start addressing the issues of homebrew and marijuana in their respective communities.
Beli also added that the killing at Holik in Yangoru was not election related but was allegedly caused by the consumption of homebrew.
He said the suspects involved in the killing had surrendered to the police and are in police custody in Wewak.
He said he would confirm the report from Yangoru police and find out the cause.
