PPP denies ‘moving’

PEOPLE’S Progress Party (PPP) president Brown Sinamoi has denied reports that the party is part of  a cabinet being formed in anticipation of the Dec 9 Supreme Court decision going against the validity of the O’Neill-Namah government.
He said this yesterday to counter a Sunday Chronicle newspaper front page article which suggested that grand chief Sir Michael Somare’s camp has 59 members and listed PPP as one of the coalition partners.
The report had claimed that a new Somare government, which planned to complete its term in office next year, also wanted to unite with the PPP founder in a coalition which would see Sir Michael leave politics gracefully with a grand legacy behind him.
Sinamoi rejected the suggestions, adding that PPP supported the O’Neill-Namah government and had two ministers – Mining Minister Byron Chan and Education Minister Theo Zure­nuoc.
Sinamoi said PPP was intact and happy to stay with the current government, knowing it would deliver.
