THE People’s Progress Party in New Ireland has endorsed its candidates for the up-coming local level government elections.

The candidates agreed to uphold the vision of the Malagan Declaration and pledged to work with national MPs Byron Chan, Ben Micah and Governor Sir Julius Chan.

The party’s provincial vice-president Samuel Vatnabar said their three national MPs were the voice of the people  and were focused on performing according to party policies.

“It is a challenge to us at the LLG level to follow our MPs’ example,” Vatnabar said.

PPP’s provincial secretary Daniel Tomarai urged the party candidates to prove that they were capable of improving the standards of living at the local level government level.

“The leadership of Sir Julius Chan as governor has proven to the country how a province should work,” Tomarai said.

“His leadership is transparent in creating policies no other province have, policies for the good of all people. We need to elect vibrant and responsible leaders at the LLG level to support the good work of our PPP founder.”

Sir Julius said political integrity at the LLG level was the key to development.

“We are a government of all the people.  Even those who did not support us in the recent elections are citizens of New Ireland and deserve the opportunity to improve their lives,” he said.

The caucus also discussed the progress made to meet the goals of the party platform in the 2012 general election.
