IT WAS an instant miracle for young Joshua Sonny, 13, who has had a developing 13cm brain tumour in the past three years.
He took medical drugs, herbal treatment and has been prayed over through the phone by ministries in the country and abroad for an instant healing.
Two weeks ago Joshua was
examined by Prof John Vince of
the Medical Science School of University of Papua New Guinea and
was told that the tumour had disappeared.
Parents Victor Sonny and Blanche Bino were surprised by the news after months of tirelessly nursing Joshua and preparing for surgery overseas but believed the healing was a miracle from God.
It all started from a medical appeal story that was run by this paper in August.
The article stirred great positive response, with donations to Joshua’s cause.
A month later, way up in the remote Tsak Valley of Enga, a copy of the newspaper was read by a man.
Chairman of the Harvest Ministries of Yogos village Ipu Kapi was touched by the story and decided to help.
He consulted his pastor Willie Waia, who has a gift of praying over the sick.
“I believe Waia has the gift and urged him to visit Joshua in Port Moresby,” Kapi said.
In no time Waia was boarding a flight out of Enga for Port Moresby.
He was met by Victor and the personal ministry started from there.
For three months Waia prayed on a daily basis over Joshua – every 4am.
His parents noticed tremendous changes in his life.
He was no longer having ear and headaches, strenuous fits, ears’ pus or unsteady gait.
Joshua’s fundraising was gaining momentum as well with more donations received.
When he was due for his review, by chance, Vince checked him and to their surprise, confirmed that the tumour had disappeared.
