Previous ambulance for Ialibu district hospital abused

I REFER to the comments by Dr Youngpu Samo in his letter “Ialibu district hospital needs an ambulance” (The National, July 8).

The district hospital serves the three electorates – Ialibu-Pangia, Kagua-Erave and Imbonggu.

Given the size of the population, it is of great importance if the hospital is properly funded and equipped with basic needs for normal operations of the hospital.

Sadly, the health sector is degrading and SHPG and Ialibu MP Peter O’Neill must step in immediately to address this.

One of the issues I want to stress here is the management of a vehicle.

From observation, the previous 10-seater was grossly abused.

In most cases, patients were kept waiting to be transferred while the ambulance would be in Mendi or Mt Hagen and elsewhere but Ialibu.

If a vehicle is provided, then the good doctor must assure it will be used as intended and not abused.
