Prices of diesel, kerosene and petrol in Port Moresby rise

PRICES of petrol, diesel and kerosene in Port Moresby have increased.
The price of petrol went up by 4toea to K3.76. It was K3.72 last month.
The price of diesel increased by 6 toea to K3.46 – from K3.40.
Kerosene price increased by 1 toea to K3.16 – from K3.15.
According to the Independent Consumer and Competition Commission, the retail fuel price increases are the result of movements in the import parity price level this month.
Commissioner and chief executive officer Paulus Ain said as part of the commission’s role on enforcement and compliance, officers would inspect all service stations to ensure that prices of petroleum products did not exceed the maximum
prices approved by the commission.
Retail prices in all other centres will change according to their approved in-country shipping and road freight rates (for the third quarter of 2018) as charged by the fuel distributors.
Consumers are advised to report to the commission any instances of overcharging by retailers.
