Priest calls on students and parents to uphold family values

STUDENTS have been told to follow good principles while parents are reminded to teach good family values at a school event in Port Moresby.
Don Bosco Technical School priest Father Angel Sanchez told students and parents at the International Family Day at the St Anne Elementary School in Gerehu on Saturday the call was in line with the Archdiocesan programme on caring, protecting and strengthening family relationship.
Father Angel said many challenges faced today by families resulted from family values not being practised, and the absence of family payers and sharing of Christian principles.
These lead to separations, poverty and violence, he said.
He said many young married couples who were unemployed depended on their parents.
School principal Sister Mary Joseph said families should be modelled after the family of Jesus.
“Our children are like angels who are very dear to us,” she said.
“As small children they know a lot already and we will prepare them to have a purpose and direction in life to have a happy and fulfilled life.”
