CATHOLIC priest Stannis Tipong Jr, 35, was committed by the Madang District Court to stand trial in the National Court for allegedly sexually harassing and raping four girls aged between 14 and 16.
Senior Magistrate Fredolin Kambibel on Monday found that there was sufficient evidence to commit Tipong, from Bogia’s Aidibal village, to stand trial in the National Court for the alleged charges.
The court heard that between Dec 31, 2018, and July 31, 2019, Tipong, who served in Halopa Catholic Mission as a priest, allegedly sexually harassed and raped the four girls on numerous occasions in his house.
After going through the police file and submissions from Police Prosecutor First Const Eugine Vinai, Tipong was committed to stand trial in the National Court.
According to a police brief, Tipong had allegedly been using force to rape the girls when he invited them to his house to do dishes or cook for him.
According to witness statements, Tipong warned the girls not to tell anyone after raping them, but the girls were brave enough to tell their teachers and relatives, who reported Tipong to the police.
On Oct 17, 2019, Tipong was formally arrested and charged with 10 counts of abuse of trust, authority or dependency under section 229E (1) and one count of sexual penetration of a child under Section 229A (1) (3) of the Criminal Code (Sexual Offences and Crime against Children) Act 2002.
He appeared in court while out on bail from the National Court.

  • Cunning, deadly and pathetic wolf in a sheep’s skin. Can a man ordained by God to be a Sheppard to His flock do this?

  • This priest should have his testicles removed by surgery. The Cannan Law should invoke Test Removal as a mandatory condition to enter priesthood. No priest detest porn when his test still hangs.

  • If he want to married Why then he become a priest? this particular priest spoils the other priest name.

    • What is done cannot be undone, my sympathy for the girls, and my prayer for the priest.
      Let’s all pray that may the Lord be with them in this time of trouble that the peace and love of God help us;
To the priest , my prayer that may you realize your sin and repent and make a u turn and be truly converted and say sorry to the girls you damage them.
God be with you and bless you all

  • Wow!

Not all men on this lovely planet Earth of ours is perfect. We all have a hint of the devil in all of us, whether you you go to church, a committed Christian, fully ordained pastor or whatever it is, we will always make mistakes.

Such a shame, so lets not play the blame game.

If you have never committed a Sin, told a lie, borrowed money & never paid back, never committed adultery, or never at one time in your entire life since you were a kid to adult hood, never committed some sort of sin, then we have the right to talk about someone’s mistakes. Which means you’re perfect, then we can judge.

Just lock him up without bail. I’m sure he’ll learn after he’s out.

    • Kevron,
Bro this is not a mistake he knew what he was doing. He was forcing the young girls & then telling them not to tell anyone about his evil doings.
My goodness, how can you miss that?

  • Not only him, have also witnessed another drinking alcohol during the weekend. He is in charge of Namta Parish – Asaro EHP.
    They are Hypocrisy, great pretenders!

  • Do a background checks on all the Catholic Priest in the country as child sexual abuse and rape committed by priest and clergyman is common around the world in the establishment of the Roman Catholic Church detailing back to Vatican as the origin of the ungodly act.

  • He deserves to be locked up. refuse the bail conditions as well. He might rape again!

  • Yes, we are all sinners, no matter who we are (everybody, anybody) . When we begin to make comments for someone’s wrongdoing.indirectly we are taking the place of the Creator (only very perfect judge without any sin.) Rausim hap palang istap long ai blo yu ya rausim pastaim behind rausim long narapela(Bible quote)

  • Kevron, this is a different version of sin. If he did this to you small daughter? I hope you’ll accept it.
