Priest: Xmas meaningful with Christ

CHRISTMAS would be meaningful only when activities planned and executed were centred on Jesus Christ, a church leader said.
Archbishop of Mt Hagen Archdioceses Douglas Young said this in his Christmas message aired by Catholic radio station, Trinity 98.1 FM on Christmas Eve.
Archbishop Young said Christ was the centre of Christmas and any Christmas event or activity carried out must be focused on Christ alone.
“Decorations and all kinds of activities must not blind us from the real meaning of Christmas.”
He said that drinking alcohol, organising big feasts, taking revenge or tribal fighting added no meaning to Christmas.
He urged Christians not to make Christmas a judgment day.
“God said that his job is to judge us and not us judging other people. God says let your enemy be and he will deal with them.”
He said that Christmas was the time for peace, caring, harmony, forgiveness and love for enemies.
“The prophecy of prophet Isaiah in the old testament informing us about God sending his only son down to earth to save his people has been fulfilled,” he said.
