TEACHERS at Muluma Primary School in the Bosave local level government (LLG) have been given solar light sets to help them prepare lessons.
The Southern Highlands government also gave the solar lights to pastors.
The 12 solar light sets were given to them during the launching of the Mt Bosave sustainable agriculture development initiative and tourism launching on the eve of the Independence Day.
Deputy provincial administrator Fiebik Kilip announced K1 million on behalf of governor William Powi; K300,000 to partner with rural airstrip agency and rehabilitation of the Muluma airstrip; K300,000 for agriculture development in the 22 wards and K400,000 to improve church and school infrastructures.
Kilip said the provincial government was happy to partner with the people that had gone into farming though they did not have road connecting the outside world.
“The provincial government is committed to connect Bosave with Southern Highlands and a contractor engaged has mobilised machineries that are now at Fugumayo,” he said.
“People need road to transport their produce to markets and road is our number one priority.”
Former LLG president Weima Dinawi said teachers had been using embers to prepare lessons for many years and it was the first help given. “We are thankful to the provincial government for the help given,” he said.
