Private Companies Netball on hold pending directives from authority

THIS year’s Private Companies Netball Competition remains on hold as organisers await directives from the National Control Centre to tip off the season.
The organisers said in a statement that the likelihood of season tipping off came down to the severity of the Coronavirus (Covid-19) pandemic in the country with cases increasing over the past two months. “The executives met with the (Office of the National Pandemic Response) Controller,” they said.
“The competition’s standard operating procedure is in order to proceed the competition once restrictions are lifted.
“Pertaining to the last update, the restrictions had ended on Oct 30.
“But again, this depends on the Covid-19 task force due to the surge in cases over the last couple of months.
“Whilst we have time on our hands, we suggest that everyone stays ready and teams to submit identification and registration forms before the start of the competition.
“In the meantime, we are encouraging all everyone interested in taking part to follow the Covid-19 protocols while waiting.
“The executives will continue to work closely with the controller’s office and advice when games will tip off.”
The competition had been scheduled to start in late September, but the centre announced a ban all public gatherings until Oct 30. The competition was then postponed for the duration of the restrictions from Sept 20 to Oct 30.
Meanwhile, the centre’s Niupela Pasin team and the Sports Foundation’s pandemic management committee have given approval for a handful of Port Moresby competitions under conditional approval.
