CHILDREN are attending a private school in the Anglimp local level government, in Jiwaka, because of the syllabus it uses.
But facilities at the Madan Christian Integrated School need renovation and upgrading.
Head teacher Kerry Yabo is requesting assistance from local MP Joe Koim, business houses and individuals.
Private schools are excluded from the government tuition fee-free policy thus get funding only from individuals and organisations.
The school has up to Grade 2 and feeds Kindeng and Avi primary schools.
The Madan Christian Integrated School  was established in 2008 and all subjects are taught in English in line with the government policy on education.
The school has two teachers –Yabo and Rehab James.
Yabo said they wanted to provide students the best education but the poor facilities were a hindrance.
“We have no proper classrooms, teaching facilities and textbooks. We teach them in English and phonics which is better than others,’’ he said. Apo said the two bush material classrooms were rotting. The roof leaks, when it rains, making learning hard.
