The NGCB Port Moresby 9s rugby league challenge has been postponed to Wednesday this week.

The games were put forward in a mark of respect after the tragic killing of former rugby league star Aquila Emil on Friday morning.

Emil, 44, was gunned down allegedly by the former head of a government body near popular night spot Lamana Gold club after an altercation.

The former Kumul  halfback, who made a name for himself in the eary 1990s playing Brothers, will be sadly missed by all his colleagues, friends, loved ones, workmates and teammates.

Port Moresby rugby league games coordinator Meke Maino said his untimely death had shocked the entire rugby league fraternity in the city and he was sure that all rugby league fans throughout the country would mourn Emil’s death given his reputation as one of the country’s best players.

“We will truly miss him because he did and was doing for the sport.”
