Probe allegations of abuse

Letters

SOME of our laws do not reveal information and deals regarding parliamentary privileges enjoyed by MPs and political parties.
This nation has been suffering from greed, selfishness and abuse of processes.
The current political divide exposes some defects leaders have been hiding from us.
Most citizens do not have any idea who funds political parties, how much money they receive annually and from what source they get funding to sustain their operations.
The recent exposure of K60 million plus funding towards a single party is a direct abuse of process and needs investigation.
The Registry of Political Parties and candidate’s commission will not put such large amount of money to one party as there are other political parties out there.
There are 45 registered political parties that receive support from central fund.
It’s suspicious for United Labour Party to receive a large sum of money to fund its operation.
Annual funding for political parties is provided from central funds, which is funded by contributions from the national budget (tax payer’s money) individual donors, international organisation, fundraising and investment by the Registry of Political Parties and candidate’s commission.
The allocation of K60 million to one party is out of the normal process and needs investigating.
