THE case of a man accused of raping an eight-year-old girl returning from school will return to court on Dec 13 as police are yet to complete their investigations.
Paul Ongula from Bungai village in Kerowagi, Chimbu was alleged to have committed the offence on Oct 22 at Unagi Oval around 2.30pm.
Police arrested Ongula after the matter was reported to the Crime Investigation Division. He was later released on a bail of K600.
Magistrate Cosmas Bidar adjourned the case as police needed more time to investigate the matter. He told the girl’s relatives in court that cities were no longer safe for school girls and women.
“This kind of case is increasing in such city today and women have to take extra precautions, and people have to find out why such activities are emerging,” Bidar said.
