Probe into NLA’s expenses

I URGE the Education Secretary to investigate the operations of the National Library and Archives (NLA) at Waigani as it appears contracts for civil works are being dished out unnecessarily.

Even footpaths and pavements are being done over and over and the amount of paint used is remarkable.

Some projects have two or three contractors working on the same thing.

I understand there are contractors who have not been paid for work done a couple of years ago.

There are a number of brand new five-door vehicles in the management parking spaces and one wonders where the money came from to buy them.

The primary role of the NLA is  to ensure libraries are stocked with much-needed book.

Funds given to the NLA are not meant to be spent of civil works.
