Professional boxing returns in Fight Night

REIGNING champions, Socay Boxing Club under professional boxer, Kevin Baki is ready to impress this weekend at Fight Night.

Boasting a three-year career in the National Capital Boxing arena, Baki will lead his team of young men and women, between the ages of 16-25, most of whom are in school and unemployed into the arena.

Teams participating include, Gerehu under Robert Namana, Taurama under Martin Beni, Joyce Bay (Horse Camp), under Simon Hela, Koki Wanigela under Luke Baro, Tubusereia under John Korake, Porebada under Victor Lani, Wildlife Erima under Michael Heni, Defence under Mark Keto and Tokarara under Chiko Emmanuel.

Baki will be looking at his experienced fighters in Nelson Kosipi, Henry Umintz, Tom Boga, Roy Gavera, Chris Baki, Lucas Wakori, John Ume and female fighter Lazani Soma to retain the honours.

Baki, will be training his boys to step up for honours at the PNG Games to be held later this year in Lae, with Kosipi, already selected to represent his home province, Gulf.

Baki said Kosipi had the potential and the right work ethic to win medals.

“Nelson (Kosipi) is very respectful. He has discipline and commitment and that will take him a long  way and of course he has the boxing ability and toughness to win medals,” Baki said.

Kosipi will be fighting in the 49-kilogramme light fly weight division.
