THE Morobe provincial government’s church partnership programme gave K25,000 to the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Chimbu last weekend.

Morobe Governor Kelly Naru pledged K10,000 each for the Membi-Tamba Circuit and Chimbu District Evangelical Lutheran Church (ELCPNG) during the opening of a new church building at the Gera landslip site.

He presented K5,000 to Membi-Tamba circuit president, Wisky Karagol, to help in meeting expenses of the opening.

Morobe provincial executive council members Charlie Foike (chairman religion) and Joel Alu (Works) confirmed that the Morobe provincial government had initiated the church partnership.

Foike said they allocated 10% of the provincial budget for church activities.

He said they supported any church in spreading the good news to the people.

Alu said the support towards the Membi-Tamba Circuit was part of the church-provincial government partnership arrangement.

He called on the churches to use the money in spreading the good news.

Naru, who earlier donated K20,000 towards the fundraising effort to re-build the old church building destroyed in the Gera landslide, challenged the people to make God’s business their business.

He said Christians should develop a heart of giving with love.
