THE country has experienced a world record growth in the past five years, according to European Union ambassador Ioannis Giogkarakis-Argyropoulos.

He mentioned this at a workshop by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) on the millennium development goals acceleration project in Port Moresby last week.

“The project provides K500, 000 grants to four villages in Simbalai, Milne Bay, Musendai in East Sepik, Domil in Jiwaka and Trolga in Western Highlands,” he said.

The aim of the workshop was to highlight the lessons learnt and sharing the experiences each community encountered during the four years of the implementation of the projects.

The projects were funded by the European Union and implemented by the UNDP in partnership with the Department of National Planning and Monitoring.

“The four-year project aims to assist the Government to accelerate the achievement of the goals at a local level and demonstrate the capacities of the communities.”
