THE National Gaming Control Board has given K15,000 to the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Mikitimb, Dei, Western Highlands.

Congregation chairman Wamunge Datt said the money would be used on church and community projects they were working on such as providing water supply and electricity.

The NGCB allocated the money from its Community Beneficiary Funds programme after it received a submission from the church. Project coordinator Robin Wamunge said: “This is a good example of what many people preach about – that the Government and churches work in partnership.”

He said a submission for funding for the water supply project had already been approved by an international aid organisation.

It is in the final stage of engaging a contractor to carry out the project.
