OUTSTANDING infrastructure projects under the Civil Aviation development investment programme (Cadip) 1 should be completed by June this year, an official says.
National Airports Corporation (NAC) managing director Rex Kiponge said the first phase of the K1.67 billion Cadip programme ended last November.
He said from the 11 major impact projects under Cadip 1- Trench 3, a few had run on into this year while most other objectives were accomplished last year.
Kiponge said all work on Momote Airport had been completed and its opening date deferred by Prime Minister James Marape to April 25; while announcement of Vanimo Airport’s opening date awaited final arrangements.
He said construction of new terminal buildings for Madang, Mendi, Kavieng and Wapenamanda airports were in progress while supply and installation of security fencing and associated works at Kiunga Airport was ongoing.
“By June, all of these remaining projects under Cadip 1- Trench 3, will be completed as planned,” he said.
He said work had started on Cadip 2 to improve other airports and aviation infrastructure.
“Cadip 2 will be more on sustainable airport development initiatives at our airports,” Kiponge said.
