PROJECTS worth more than K150 million are being undertaken in East New Britain under the leadership of Governor Ereman ToBaining Jr.
In his Easter message to the province, ToBaining highlighted his government’s achievements since assuming office eight months ago following the national elections in June last year.
He said the development initiatives included the K109 million East and West New Britain access highway project and the K47 million Toriu integrated development projects and highway.
ToBaining said that K250,000 tertiary scholarships for students from his Kokopo electorate was another incentive aimed at relieving parents from the burden of paying school
fee.
He added that significant events hosted by the province included the 5th PNG Games, Pacific Island lawyers’ organisation network meeting and the supervisory board meeting between the national government and the Autonomous Bougainville Government.
ToBaining said despite these achievements, the past eight months had also been challenging for his government.
He urged the people to commemorate Easter as a time for renewal of the spiritual and physical being.
“People of East New Britain, I appeal to everyone to take a moment during this Easter and reflect on our individual lives so that we improve in the future,” he said.
He reiterated that the province and country faced challenges such as social ills, illicit activities and other threats to people’s lives and well-being.
“The existence of such cordial working relationship can be witnessed among the five parliamentarians and administration of the province,” ToBaining said.
“Easter gives the province the opportunity to bask in the achievement attained as development initiative, to maintain stability and spiritual growth.”
