Promote rugby in Sepik

Letters

I CONGRATULATE John Wagambie for promoting rugby league in Sepik.
Can the promoters of the new Sepik-based rugby league team arrange a public poll for the Sepik people to choose a good name for our rugby team?
Wagambie and his executives should advertise widely and recruit an experienced rugby league coach from England, Australia or New Zealand.
Developing a model similar to the German
The use of soccer academy system should be considered and prioritised.
The reason why Germany is a super power in soccer is because kids as young as two years are enrolled in soccer schools and the main subject is sport specialising in soccer.
Kids learn math, English, science and other subjects but major in soccer from early ages until they reach 20.
The German national soccer team of 50 players is selected from millions of students enrolled in many soccer schools throughout Germany.
German soccer players are highly skilled because they were trained since they were kids.
Sepik Pride promoters should enter into partnership with various agencies such as the East and West Sepik governments, local business houses, international sports agencies such as the National Rugby League to develop Sepik rugby league schools/academies in all local level governments in West and East Sepik.
If our Pacific neighbours such as Fiji, Samoa, Tonga, and New Zealand can excel in rugby league, I believe Sepiks and PNG can be a force in world rugby league stage.
