THUNDERLEGS Kickboxing International’s will feature four of its high profiled fighters against PNG’s best in Port Moresby on Saturday.

The World Kickboxing Federation (WKF) was honored to stage the international titles in the country, a first of its kind, and would set the bench mark for the sport.

This was recognised by WKF and will have a big impact for future world international events in PNG.

Thunderlegs International CEO, promoter and ranked top 5 pro heavy weight for world kickboxing federation and international kickboxing federation Robert Wilesmith arrived in the country yesterday.

Team Thunderlegs fighters have prepared themselves for three months and all in good shape for the international, intercontential and Asia Pacific titles which are up for grabs.

Fighters Finland’s Jarkko Jussila, Australia’s Ricky Mellor and India’s champion Paritosh Nigam arrive tomorrow at 4.50pm and Indonesia’s Alfa Tubagus and Eka Areka arrive today. 

Finland’s Jussila and PNG’s Rickson Yamo battle for the light welter weight (64.5kg) the main event of the day. India’s Paritosh will fight Andy Sam for the middle weight (75kg). Tubagus locks it up with Jonathan Tuhu in the super light weight (62.3kg), Areka will go up against Kapa Omena for the fly weight (53.2kg) and Aussie’s Mello fights Jeffrey Daka (division yet to confirm).

Wilesmith and his cornerman Lina arrived yesterday to also conduct a trainer and fighters level one course.

He said Finland’s Jarkko was ranked number one there to fight for the WKF title against PNG’s very own Yamo and predicts an awesome challenge.

“I’ am aware of the talents and potential PNG has and this will really feature the strength that they have against the international fighters”.

Team Thunderlegs International was honored and privileged to be invited in the country and thanked PNG government for making it all happen. 

Four fighters from PNG will be selected by PNG Kickboxing Association chief executive Stanley Nandex for rematch in October in Sydney” Wilesmith added.
