Proper info system vital for land developers

 THE physical geography of PNG is rugged and proper information system will enable developers to identify the location of land to have correct data before planning.

To measure and identify land area manually is challenging for surveyors but the Geographical Information System (GIS) these days is a vital tool, Mary Pati said during the 48th Surveyors’ Congress in Port Moresby last week.  

“Geographical Information System is a great tool for survey for accurate measurement and identification of land boundaries,”she said.

Pati, the managing director for PNG Geospatial Solutions which is in the forefront of such technology, said it dealt  with the geographical information for location of house, land and other land features in a database form.

 “It was not only usable for just database but how to manipulate the modelling data and part of the industry data system,” she said.
