PROPEST Control has stepped in to support the PNG men’s basketball team for the Pacific Games in Noumea, New Caledonia, from Aug 27 to Sept 10.
The team has been in camp since June 17 to build players’ confidence before heading to the games.
However, there are also logistics and other essentials involved in running the camp and the funds would help to meet some of the expenses incurred.
Under coach Ferdinard Boyet Daroya, the team is training six days a week to develop and understand each other on how they play. It would also mean developing a balance, conditioning, training and proper nutrition for the players.
On learning of the difficulties the players were facing, Propest Control managing director John Vere committed K1,000 for the players.
“I can see the players are committed to their training schedule and are working hard, day-in,  day-out.
“It is proper and fitting for Propest Control to recognise their efforts in a small way,” he said.
Daroya said the money would be spent on meals and transport expenses.
However, he is also urging other corporate citizens to step forward and support the team.
