POLICE are waiting for approval to enforce a proposed curfew in Alotau town.
Police in the province are currently carrying out investigations into shootings and deaths, burning of police houses and property destruction apart from robberies, acting police commander Inspector George Bayagau said.
“We are waiting for them to tell us then we can carry out the task, we are only to enforce what instruction is given,” he said regarding the proposed curfew from dusk to dawn.
Bayagau said once the curfew became legal document, police could enforce it right away.
Businesshouses have returned to normal operations but were on alert following a string of violent robberies over the recent weeks.
