Provide legal studies in police training

Letters

ALL police officers need to take legal studies in order to qualify as officers.
The six months physical training is not enough.
A good number of them insult, swear and chase citizens and destroy properties.
This shows lack of professionalism.
In Popondetta, police are the greatest enemy of the people.
The policemen don’t follow the simple rules of conduct and engagement.
They wear civilian clothes and walk around holding Government-issued firearms.
They consume alcohol in police vehicles.
They kill innocent people with police-issued guns.
There is no sign of professionalism.
Are they real police?
Those new to the town would wonder why people were carrying guns in the streets without knowing that they were police.
They are lost.
“Take back PNG” will start from all the departments and the Police Department has to do it too.
We appeal to Police Commissioner David Manning to address this issue.
Put laws in place so ignorant, greedy, hypocritical and semi-educated grade 10 and 12 dropouts officers know their roles and responsibilities as officers of the law.
