THE East New Britain’s education division launched its 2015-2022 Education Plan on Friday.
Governor Nakikus Konga launched the plan themed “Quality learning and training for all” at a ceremony in Kokopo.
Konga said the provincial government, through the education division, was mandated to develop provincial education plan under Section Seven of the Provincial Education Act 1988 to guide and ensure educational aspirations were pursued in a coordinated manner.
“Today marks a significant date in our quest as an autonomous province,” he said.
“This launching was hosted in the middle of the implementation period and as an autonomous province, we are proud that this marks the continuity of implementation of key educational programmes and activities.” Provincial administrator Wilson Matava and education adviser Hubert Wangun, with senior officials from the education division, local level government (LLG) presidents, district administrators, school inspectors, principals, head teachers, teachers and students witnessed the launch.
Rabaul MP Dr Allan Marat was also present at the event. Wangun said the ENB education plan was the road map for the delivery of the essential education services to the province.
He said the plan was not launched earlier because it had not been completed before 2015, however, they had begun implementation.
