THE PNG Red Cross Western Highlands branch in Mt Hagen celebrated World Red Cross and Red Crescent Day last Thursday.
The orgnisation around the world celebrated 155 years of services last week.
The 300 members of the Western Highlands branch, business houses and individuals took part in the celebration.
A march was held before the celebration.
The Tiria theatre group staged dramas about the Battle of Solferion.
Branch coordinator Pauline Ross described it was a big event for members.
She was happy to take part with the rest of the world in celebrating the event.
She said it clearly showed how important Red Cross was to society and the people.
Western Highlands has 300 voluntary members who have been assisting people in danger and in times when they need help.
“This is the moment members are to come and know that they are part of the 188 national societies around the world,” she said.
She thanked everyone who took part in this event with the members of Red Cross.
