Province sets target
The National, Friday March 28th, 2014
EAST New Britain has continued maintaining primary health care and HIV/AIDS response as its two key health areas, provincial health adviser Nick Larme says.
It is one of the nine strategic areas the province is focused on. The others are governance and management, education, infrastructure, social development, land mobilisation, disaster preparedness and response.
The province successfully contained the Chikunganya viral disease, of which 39,000 cases were recorded.
It supplied medical supplies to health centres, improved ante-natal care for mothers, safe motherhood, improved supervised births, improved measles coverage by 100 per cent, increased community action participation training in Rabaul and Gazelle district focusing on preventative health care.
It rolled out new malaria treatment and rapid diagnostic test kits and completed the provincial transit medical store at Butuwin, in Kokopo.
