ANGLIMP-South Waghi district in Jiwaka province will receive more than K500,000 by next week for relief supplies, Prime Minister Peter O’Neill told parliament last Friday.
O’Neill said he received a request from local MP Joe Koim for relief assistance for people affected as a result of the continuous rain and flooding in the Waghi valley.
Koim, who succeeded Jamie Maxtone Graham, asked if O’Neill was aware of a submission to his office for relief assistance after the disaster, which had left many of his people homeless and without food.
O’Neill said he had also instructed the Works department to assess roads and bridges that had been damaged by heavy rains and floods.
