THE president of Sinivit local level government in Pomio, East New Britain, Levi Orong, was caught in a fist fight yesterday in Kokopo town.
The incident involved two other prominent figures in the province.
The scuffle, which happened yesterday afternoon, attracted a big crowd of people outside a fast food outlet at Vunapope beach in the heart of town.
The two other men in the fight were the chairman of a prominent landowner group and the managing director of one of the biggest construction companies in the country.
The men got into fight for unknown reasons.
Orong was present when the fight started between the two men.
The president’s vehicle was damaged by thugs during the fight and valuables stolen.
Eyewitnesses said police in Kokopo arrived later at the scene to stop the commotion.
Some construction workers ended up in the fight as well.
Attempts to get comments from Orong and other parties involved in the fight were unsuccessful.
