PS netball goes ahead despite rain

HEAVY rain in Port Moresby did not deter the Public Servants netball season from proceeding with their matches at the Rita Flynn courts on Saturday.
In the opening match of the premier division, the National Broadcasting Corporation were up against Telikom.
It was the only match played in that division and proved to be an eye opener for other government department teams that the Five Mile ladies are out to claim the title this season with a convincing victory over their rivals.
Boosted by sharp goal shooter, Sophie Yaruso and goal attack Lucy John, NBC started off in flying colours dominating the entire match despite some good challenge put up by Telikom captain-courageous Alice Andrew at wing defence.
NBC went to register their first competition points when they defeated their opponents 23-10.
There were two other exciting matches in division one that saw NCD draw with Didimer 15-15 while in division two, Labour Department gunned down Central Bank 12-7.
The Public Servants netball competition president Lyn Koneveuvau is also calling on teams to pay their team affiliation fees of K300 and K20 player registration fees.
Teams have been given until next month to settle the requirements.
Teams who fail to comply will  have their competition points deducted.
Thirty-five teams are currently participating in the competition with six teams slotted into each division.
The competition will have two normal rounds before going into the finals.
