Public servants also want 52% rise
The National – Friday, March 18, 2011
I REFER to the letter “Public servants unfairly treated” (The National, March 11) by “Frustrated & infuriated public servant” of Port Moresby.
All public servants should commend the writer for expressing the injustices we continue to face.
It is high time we, public servants, go on strike.
As we wait for the promised 6% salary increase, which has remained as a mere promise and may not materialise, MPs and heads of departments have already received their 52% rise.
Why should we accept 6%? That’s peanut compared to 52%, which we should be demanding.
The cost of living has gone up and it will continue to rise.
These greedy MPs are the only group of people in this country who vote for salary increases every now and then.
Only God knows what their perks and privileges are.
