THE Public Servants Netball competition knock-out games which were scheduled for last Saturday have been deferred to this weekend.

Heavy rain experienced in the nation’s capital over the weekend prompted the games’ executives to cancel the matches for the convenience of the players and officials as the competition is held at the Rita Flynn outdoor courts.

The competition is drawing to an end, with the top four teams of each division making it through the semis, and only the best and undefeated will battle in the finals.

Top four teams in the premier division are Department of Works, National Fisheries Authority, Papua New Guinea Olympic Committee and MedComm.  They will compete this Saturday with Works taking on PNGOC, while NFA is going up against MedComm.

Works, who are the defending champions, have a strong side with outstanding players Athalyia Kila, who is in the under-21 training squad, former Pepes Kimberley Alex and Lama Lua and experienced veteran Ati Rawali.

They will have to execute skilful game strategies to secure their title when they take on a tough PNG Olympic Committee side, while a competitive NFA and MedComm will clash to settle the deal on who has the potential and tactics to make it through to the semi-finals.
