Public servants pay hike overdue

 HOW it that Personnel Management and Industrial Relations departments are taking time in implementing the public servants pay hike as promised by the minister?

It is ridiculous when you consider that MPs did not get to wait long for their hefty pay increase last year.

A simple public servant works from 7.45am to 4.06pm and yet cannot afford to rent a decent house or even pay bus fares for two weeks and meet his/her children’s school fees.

For many public servants at least 70% of their wages go to repaying loans from registered financial institutions or the black market.

Leaders must get a move on and implement the pay increase as a matter of urgency. 

Many families have turned to gambling, prostitution and other illegal activities to make ends meet.
