Public service super problems

Letters

I CALL on the Government to do the right thing and settle in full now the State’s outstanding contribution towards public servants’ superannuation at Nambawan Super.
It is inhumane for anyone in authority to allow former public servants to incur personal debt and face default judgment on property loans because the government is failing to pay to their superannuation accounts the money it owes.
To break that payment up over a six-month or 12-month period will not help get the former public servants out of their financial strife.
Many public servants are living in poverty because of what the government is doing, or has failed to do.
This needs urgent corrective actions by the government and the board and management of Nambawan Super so people can get what they are legally entitled to.
Superannuation is supposed to help people in retirement. For those who worked in the public service, the failure of the government to fulfil its legal obligations is making that meaningless.
